I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years, so I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. Sweating the small stuff and making the hard calls. Dealing with the human side of running a business. That’s why I’m all about collaboration. I’m not a supplier, I’m your partner, meaning that whether your business is just starting out or already riding high we’ll work together. I will start with an initial meeting to understand you as a person, your business and its challenges and ultimately what you want from your business. I will outline how I think we should work together in terms of what information I think we will need both financial and operational. Whilst there will be a need for a scheduled regular meeting, the key to you getting the most value is knowing you can call me at any point when you need to talk over any decisions, have any concerns or any light bulb moments you want to discuss.

My approach is collaborative and supportive. I see myself as part of your team on the inside looking out with you and so our personality fit is key to a successful relationship.

FINANCE DIRECTOR SUPPORT

Access high-level strategic financial advice for your biggest decisions. Many clients don’t need a full time FD or can’t justify the £80k+ salary, so having an FD on retainer can be the best of both worlds.

Highlighting how your business is performing against targets, reviewing monthly costs and margins, analysing revenue by client and service and assessing current staffing capacity.

Hitting sales targets

Breaking down sales targets into number of clients, service lines and period of acquisition will help you understand what is achievable and can drive your marketing strategy.

Pricing reviews

We review your current pricing options and identify ways to make them more attractive to potential clients whilst also generating additional profit for your company.

Staffing, Capacity and Salary review affordability

We review your staffing structure, helping devise a recruitment strategy aligned with your growth strategy. This will identify the sales trigger at which you need to start recruiting, and at what level. The support we offer when reviewing annual salary increases will also help with balancing staff satisfaction with business sustainability.

Challenge and support

We’re here to help with any ideas you have about changing the business and act as a sounding board to understand the benefits and challenges that will present. A quick chat may clarify the financial impact, but often helps to give you both the information and conviction you need to make decisions more quickly and with greater confidence.

Annual Budget

We’re always on-hand to help with hitting targets. This often feels like a quasi-mystical art given the changes we’ve seen over the last three years, but it helps set clear targets in terms of personal income requirements and both sales and profit targets. Planning resources and investment needs to hit these targets can help identify funding requirements or plan for future scenarios when you might not be under such financial pressure.

  • We began working with AJ Fleet in August 2018 following an introduction from a mutual contact.

    We discussed our need for a supportive Accountant as our previous Accountant produced our year end accounts, told us what we had been doing wrong during the previous year, and asked us what our plans were for the following year. He offered no support or advice.
